Name Change Advice?

Sun Feb 3, 2008, 10:48 PM
News

So, I've had this username since middle school and it really sounds like something someone would make up in middle school, and the truth is, I've been sick of it for years, but uneasy about changing it because it'd mean a new DA gallery, LJ rename, etc.

But I'm really seriously considering it.  I just don't know if it's worth it to go through the hassle of staring my DA gallery over and everything.  I have so much history on this one.  I really wish they'd let people do name changes on DA.

I'd reupload some of my old pieces obviously...and this one would still be around if I or anyone else wanted to look through it, I just don't know.

Input would be much appreciated.

My art on SArmy Merchandise!

Sun Jan 20, 2008, 3:04 PM
News

Some of you know I'm a huge Heroes fan, in particular a fan of Sylar.  I recently joined the SArmy (Sylar's Army) which is a fan organization for the character, also involved in charity work.

Well, if you like Sylar, Zachary Quinto, my art, or just want to give money to a good cause, you can now buy my art on stuff in the SArmy Cafe Press store!  The net proceeds from any merchandise purchased in the store go to the Give Life Foundation.

So far, I only have one piece of art up (an edited version of this piece: spiritwolf77.deviantart.com/ar…) but hope to contribute more in the future.  There is also merchandise with art by a lot of other talented artists, including official Heroes graphic novel artists Jason Badower and Ryan Odagawa.

You can check out the SArmy store by going to this link: sylarsarmy.com/merchandise.htm

My designs and others can be found by browsing the individual merchandise pages.  (Ex. Men's clothing: www.cafepress.com/sylarsarmy/4… Women's clothing: www.cafepress.com/sylarsarmy/4… etc.)
There are T-shirts, stickers, hats, pillows, mugs, and more.

I am totally going to buy a mug.  I drink tea constantly and a Sylar mug would be awesome.

P.S. I updated the Heroes meme with links to the ones others have done.  If you filled it out, don't forget to comment on it with a link to yours! - spiritwolf77.deviantart.com/ar…

Dear Internet,

I have things I need to get done, like commissions/x-mas gifts, and things I want to get done, like art for myself.  Therefore I will probably be spending less time online over the next few days.  I may still be on AIM, and I'll still be checking sites like LJ, DA, and my email, but I may be even less responsive than usual for a while.

Thanks

Sick - Commission delays

Finals are over now and I'm home for the holidays.  Unfortunately I am also pretty sick at the moment so those last few commissions will be delayed a bit more, my apologies.

I'm making good progress on my sketch commissions today.  I've either finished or am in-progress on all the ones that I've received descriptions/payment for.  A few people from the last round never contacted me after leaving a comment though.  Those who got slots but never emailed me are still welcome to do so if they're still interested, but I'm going to open up some more slots now.

The usual info:

-One character per slot please.
-These will be done in ballpoint pen and you'll receive a high-res scan of the image.

5 Slots - first come, first serve!
1. Zim-Gekko
2. Simbachu
3. Fox-McCloud

$10-20 Sketch commissions!

Fri Oct 19, 2007, 7:06 AM
News

As tends to happen when I spend a semester drawing nothing but schoolwork, I'm getting a little artistically burnt out.  To fix this, I've decided to take a few sketch commissions so I can break up the monotony of working on the same series of drawings for several months straight.  I'll be taking these in small chunks to keep them manageable.  When I finish this batch, I may take a new set of them.

Some notes:
-Full-body sketches are $20 and portraits are $10.
-I'm only accepting Paypal on these at the moment.
-One character per slot please.
-These will be done in ballpoint pen and you'll receive a high-res scan of the image.

Here are some examples of my sketches:

5 Slots - first come, first serve!
1. Nanook123
2. Skippy2243
3. darkwingpsycho
4. jonzeartist
5. Crosssoul

To make my life easier (so I can have all of these in one place), if you're interested, please reply at my LJ!  If you don't have a LJ, you can reply anonymously and just sign it with your DA name and/or email address.

Last commission openings for a while!

Sun Aug 12, 2007, 6:44 PM
News

In about 2 weeks I start an internship and my senior year of college.  I have no idea what my workload will be like, but I intend to produce the best work I possibly can this semester, so I will be very focused on my studies.  Therefore, it's likely that this is the last chunk of time I'll have to do any serious number of commissions for a while.  So if you're interested, now's the time!  At the time of writing this entry, my queue is completely empty, so your commission will likely be finished rather quickly.

Also, I've been trying to expand my artistic horizons as of late, doing more than just animal/anthro art, so don't feel limited to only those sorts of commissions if you might be interested in something else.  I'm happy to draw human charaters, World of Warcraft characters, etc!

If you're interested, all the pricing and other details are here: spiritwolf77.livejournal.com/8…

Comic-Con! Yay!

Thu Jul 26, 2007, 5:01 PM
News

Comic-Con is this weekend! I'll be there Friday-Sunday.

If you see me wandering around at the con, feel free to come over and say hi! I'm short and blonde and will be wearing BSG dogtags and walking with a cane. And because people always ask this: the cane is not part of a costume. I use it at events that involve a lot of walking because I have a chronic knee injury that tends to act up.
Also, if you see me at the con, please do not run up to me and randomly tackle/hug me unless I already know you in person because that tends to freak me out.

I don't have any official costumes planned. I'll probably just be wearing some nerdy shirts (definitely wearing my "How I Mine For Fish?" shirt one day) and might be dressed as "casual" Starbuck (grey and black tanktop combo) one of the days because I can pull that off without too much effort.

Stuff

Mon Jul 9, 2007, 11:37 PM
Some of you probably noticed I recently posted two belief/debate oriented polls, as I am prone to do.  If these things annoy you, feel free to ignore them.  Debate/discussion about beliefs and about how beliefs may or may not conflict with science is sort of my non-art side hobby, which is why I've been posting so many of these.  I apologize if they annoy you, but if they don't, hopefully you can help me out in my random hobby studies/discussions!

The first one: spiritwolf77.deviantart.com/jo… is simply for me to gauge what percentages of certain beliefs make up my watchers.  Partially out of my own curiosity, partially to help me assess reactions and replies to my other polls.

The second one: spiritwolf77.deviantart.com/jo… is intended for actual debate/discussion.  Evolutionary debate is a big hobby of mine and I'm always curious to know why it's still a subject of so much debate (at least in the US).  If you respond to that one, please be willing to discuss a bit/explain your views.

Now back to your regularly scheduled art.

I spent the past several hours re-doing my Digital Painting Series tutorials.  They are now totally up-to-date.  The old ones are gone, except for the Flash Inking one.  That's still useful and more or less up-to-date, so I saved it as its own thing in the Other section.  I haven't fully spell-checked these yet, too tired.  It's 2:30 am.  I'll do it in the morning.  So ignore any typos for now.

Enjoy! www.chelseabrown.net/tutorials…

Note: If you've viewed any of my tutorials before, you may need to refresh the page to get the new ones to show up.

Ask a question!

Fri Jun 29, 2007, 4:54 AM
News

I'm bored, can't sleep, and I don't think I've ever done this before.  I know some of you well but I don't know anything about most of you, and despite viewing my art, a lot of you probably don't know much about me.  Art only says so much about a person.

So, feel free to ask any question you feel like and I will provide an answer as long as it's not too personal (i.e. don't ask for my address and home phone number).  I'm a pretty open person, so there's very little (other than the above mentioned personal information) that I wouldn't feel comfortable answering.  It can be about my art, beliefs, politics, hobbies, etc.

News

I realized today that if my computer suddenly erupts in a fiery ball of flames and takes my backup drive with it, all my art is safely online in several different galleries.  But all the art people have done for me is not.  It's not all in one place and some of it's not even online at all anymore.  So I decided I'm putting it on my website so it's all in one safe place and so I can share pretty pictures other people have drawn with the world.

Of course, I'm not actually sure I have all of it saved to my computer.  Since I owned only a laptop until just recently, I've always been somewhat paranoid about hard drive space and at moments of low disk space, I've reasoned that I can just favorite art and go back and download it later.  And now I've realized that's going to take a while.
Sooo....if I've gotten a commission from you, done an art trade with you, you've drawn art for me, etc.  Do you think maybe if it's not too much trouble you could post a comment here with a link to where it might be online or email the picture to me if it's not anywhere online?  If you did a commission for me recently and emailed it to me, I do have it (Regan, Jorie, etc.) so don't worry about that.  It's mostly older stuff I'm having trouble tracking down.  Also, I'm just concerned with art of my kalnarin characters (Kaid, Kashur, Theore, Nathinel, etc.), Spirit, or Sambu at the moment.  My old TLK characters aren't as important to me anymore and I think I have most of that stuff burned to CD somehwere anyway.

Also, if you want me to credit you with a particular name/alias under the picture (I'll try to go with whatever you usually go by but I don't always know) and link to a specific gallery or website, let me know.  If for whatever reason you don't want me to include your art in this gallery, also let me know.  I'll post a link once I get it all set up.

Edit: Done!  If you have art that's not here that you want to be here, let me know.  I basically put up whatever I could find/had saved but I know I'm missing a few things (Oscen, didn't you have a drawing of Kashur on DA?).  I also have a few images saved from the old Yerf Trading Post that I didn't save names with so I have no idea who did them.  I don't want to put anything up without credit so those are staying off until I figure it out.

Taking a few commissions in between bigger projects.  I was originally limiting myself to three at a time and had a few limited options available, but I've been completing these rather quickly and right now I'm trying to raise some money to purchase a commission from bonegoddess so I'm taking a few more.

No real media beyond pencil and ink this time...unfortunately I left my markers and pencils at my college apartment.

No official limit on these yet but I'll probably put a cap on them once I reach my goal ($150).
